Requests for Proposals for Sequim Civic Center

Rotating art exhibits
The current exhibit, Piecing Together a Changing Planet, ends June 30, 2017.

The next exhibit, Asian Flair, begins on July 1 featuring Ryoko Toyama, Danielle Tanner, Roxanne Grinstad, Patty Lampley, Monica Gutieriez-Quarto, Melanie Salazar, Kaitlyn Walter, Linda Collins-Chapman, Pete Tjemsland, Erica McClain, and Valerie Henschel.

July 7 is the First Friday reception and will include Art Talk on the Art Walk. This will take place in the Civic Center and include demonstrations from three local presenters:

5:00 p.m. - Janie Redifer will present ideas of how to bring the art of Ikebana, Japanese flower arranging, into the home. Redifer lived in Japan for six years and studied for two years at the Sogetsu School of Ikebana in Tokyo. She earned the Sogetsu Teacher's Diploma Fourth Grade, which allows her to teach Ikebana.

5:45 p.m. - Roxanne Grinstad, M.A. Ed., will demonstrate the art of Japanese Brush style painting. Grinstad was awarded the Certificate of Merit in Asian Brush teaching and painting after completing the Ning Yehs Teaching Techniques course at Coastline College in California.

6:30 p.m. - Emily Hu, the owner of Roji Home and Garden, will present simple and elegant ways to add "Asian Flair" to your home or garden.

Keying Around
Keying Around begins on July 1, 2017. Pianos will be painted and set out for the public to play and enjoy. Locations include Over the Fence, the Civic Center, The Emerald and Doodlebugs. Piano artists include Natalie Andrezeski, Jake Reichner, and Luke Kinsella. 

The pianos will be on display until August 4, 2017 when they will be auctioned during the August First Friday event. This event will include food and drink vendors as wellas the band, Shaggy Sweet.
