Legal Department
The city attorney gives legal advice to city officials and staff and represents them in civil court and administrative proceedings. Note: The city attorney and other Legal Department staff cannot give legal advice or representation to members of the general public.

The city attorney also supervises a contract prosecutor who prosecutes misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor crimes committed within the Sequim city limits. Misdemeanor and gross misdemeanor crimes are those which may be punished by up to one year in jail. Felony crimes committed in Sequim are prosecuted by the Clallam County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office located in Port Angeles.

Legal Department Staff
The Sequim Legal Department consists of the city attorney and staff members. At times staff may include legal interns, assistant city attorneys, paralegals, and secretaries. In 2011, the Legal Department has the following full-time positions employed:
