Sequim City Council to Reinstate Contract for City Manager Charlie Bush

Charlie Bush

The Sequim City Council voted to reinstate the employment contract for City Manager Charlie Bush at their March 23 meeting.  Bush had previously planned to resign his position on April 17 for personal reasons.

“I feel fortunate that we will be able to benefit from Charlie’s leadership during this challenging time in our community.  I applaud him for recognizing the need to see the City organization and community through the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) threat.  His organization and facilitation of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is being implemented now with the development of the Emergency Coordinating Center (ECC), bringing the City of Sequim, Clallam County Fire District 3, and the Sequim School District together to support Clallam County’s emergency operations in the eastern portion of the county.  I commend him for making the choice to stay,” said Mayor William Armacost.

“I am thankful for the support of the Sequim City Council in making it possible for me to continue on with the City.  I look forward to continuing to serve the community especially during these difficult times,” said City Manager Charlie Bush.

The City Council was in discussions with Assistant City Manager Charisse Deschenes to take on an Interim City Manager position.

“I agreed to become Sequim’s Interim City Manager as Council looked internally for someone to support the existing culture of the organization. I enjoy working with the City Staff, the one Charlie developed and one in which employees flourish in their roles. When he mentioned to me that his personal plans may fall through this year, he asked me what I thought about it. I am elated that he is willing to stay in the role of City Manager. He continues to be an amazing asset to the City of Sequim, a mentor to myself and to many in the organization,” said Assistant City Manager Charisse Deschenes.
