The Sequim City Council approved the development of a Tourism Sustainability Grant program to be funded with $50,000 from the City of Sequim Lodging Tax Fund. Non-profit tourism related organizations within the Sequim School District boundaries are eligible to apply. The intent of the grant is to assist organizations with funding that is essential to the on-going operations of or facilities owned by the organization or to help cover the additional expenses of adapting their organization or event to adhere to new guidelines required by the State of Washington and Clallam County Health to meet the standards for public health. The grants will be awarded up to $5,000 per organization.
Lodging Tax is a restricted fund and may only be used for the specific purposes of:
1) Tourism marketing;
2) The marketing and operations of special events and festivals to attract tourists;
3) Supporting the operations and capital expenditures of tourism-related facilities owned or operated by a municipality or public facilities district;
4) Supporting the operations of tourism-related facilities owned or operated by non-profit organizations.
Applicants will need to indicate which of these criteria their use of the funds will meet.
Application Window
Applications are due to the City of Sequim by 4:00 p.m. on Monday, June 1. The applications will be reviewed by the Sequim Lodging Tax Advisory Committee at their quarterly meeting on June 8 and recommendations will be made for approval to the Sequim City Council at their June 22 meeting.
