[ARCHIVED] Unemployment Fraud Scam Alert

Sequim Police Department

Local agencies, businesses and employees are being targeted with fraudulent claims for unemployment benefits, including receiving what may look like legitimate Employment Security Department benefit claimant letters in the mail.

There have been several recent incidents reported across Clallam County related to unknown persons filing for fraudulent unemployment benefits on behalf of employees.

If you receive a fraudulent claim, do not respond, or provide any personal information. Instead, file a fraud claim with Employment Security Department.

The Employment Security Department can be reached online through:  https://www.esd.wa.gov/unemployment/unemployment-benefits-fraud

To contact Employment Security Department via toll free phone, call: 800-246-9763

To further protect yourself from fraud you may choose to contact major credit bureaus.
