The City of Sequim is working to support the safe reopening of local businesses by helping them comply with Governor Jay Inslee’s “Safe Start” Phase 2 requirements and to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. The “Sequim Open Streets and Special Events Initiative” includes tactics to be used by the City, the Chamber of Commerce, and local businesses and commercial property owners to work together to facilitate physical distancing by way of well-spaced seating, curbside pickup, and on-the-spot sanitation. Under the Initiative the City may provide outdoor picnic tables on City property, identify parking spaces for curbside pickup only, schedule street closures for safe shopping, allow additional signage and outdoor seating, permit art shows and performances in public spaces, locate hand sanitation near seating areas and at intersections, and at the discretion of the Public Works and Community Development Directors, temporarily waive fees required for Special Event Permits. Applicable sections of the Sequim Municipal Code will have some requirements temporarily lifted or modified to provide the assistance to local business and their customers.
These Initiatives are supported by the City of Sequim Emergency Order No. 2020-27 and will be in effect until all applicable COVID-19 emergency orders have been lifted.
