The Sequim City Council approved a proclamation naming The Year of Kindness 2021 at their Council meeting on Monday, December 14.
The proclamation stated the social and economic impact of the global pandemic, racial and equity tensions, the restrictions on in-person gatherings, the presidential election, and community polarization due to the Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) clinic as reasons to encourage community members, businesses, and nonprofits to initiate a series of activities in support of acts of kindness to reignite our sense of community.
“Before we speak, ask yourself is it kind, is it necessary, and is it loving? It costs nothing to share kindness. And remember, the greatest gift you can give someone is forgiveness. We are looking forward to working with the community towards spreading more kindness in 2021,” said Mayor William Armacost.
Throughout the year, the City will be giving tips and offering activities that support kindness in the community.
