Sequim residents and property owners will be updated on the preliminary design concepts for the South Sequim Complete Streets project in a virtual presentation on Thursday, January 21from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The session will be hosted and presented by Framework, a planning and public outreach consultant, who has worked with the City on community engagement for the project including a design charette, neighborhood walking tour, and an open house-style design studio.
The report will include concepts for several streets in the south Sequim area: some for immediate implementation and others for long term capital projects. The Complete Streets principles address the full array of street design aspects including: automobile, pedestrian and bicycle mobility; safety; neighborhood aesthetics; water and sewer utilities; and stormwater management. The concepts in the report are intended to be a complete streets toolkit for future projects throughout the City.
The City’s 2015 Comprehensive Plan proposed two Economic Opportunity Areas (EOA) with the purpose of diversifying the Sequim economy. The goal of the South Sequim Complete Streets projects is to develop transportation concepts that support development and redevelopment while preserving the quality of life and livability of nearby neighborhoods.
The public is invited join the virtual open house to see the results of the community’s effort on this project.
