The City of Sequim seeks applicants to fill a vacant seat on the City Council. To be considered applications are due to the City Clerk no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2021. Applicants will be interviewed by the City Council during a public meeting that may be held virtually online or may be held in person if permitted by Washington State public health mandates, at Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St., Sequim, WA 98382.
The appointee would begin serving immediately after taking the Oath of Office and would serve until this year’s General Election results are certified. If this appointee would like to serve the remainder of the term for Position 4, set to expire December 31, 2025, he or she must be elected by voters in November.
The salary for the position is $250 per month. Applicants must be registered voters of the City of Sequim, have a one-year continuous period of residence in the City of Sequim at the time of appointment, and hold no other public office or employment under the city government, unless authorized specifically by state statute.
The City Council position is vacant due to the resignation of Councilor Dennis Smith for personal reasons. By Washington State Law, the City Council is required to fill a vacant position within 90 days of the vacancy.
