Retirement of Staff Sergeant Sean Madison
Staff Sergeant Sean Madison has retired, effective 3/31/21, from the City of Sequim after a 29-year career with the Sequim Police Department. Madison came to the City in 1992 with several years of policing experience and enters retirement with over 32 years of law enforcement service. During his time with the department, he was a key contributor to every major milestone the agency achieved. This culminated in our most recent re-Accreditation process in 2020, which he managed. Madison was given the task to build an Investigations unit in 2007, supervised the Records Unit from 2008 to 2021, and participated in designing the Police portion of the Civic Center prior to our relocation in 2015.
Promotion to Deputy Chief - Mike Hill
Detective Sergeant Mike Hill has been promoted to Deputy Chief of Police, effective 4/1/21. Hill started his career at the Sequim Police Department as a volunteer Reserve Police Officer in 1998. He was hired as a Police Officer fulltime on 8/1/2001. Over the last 20 years he has been assigned to patrol, was a K-9 Officer, a Patrol Sergeant from 2013-2018, and most recently served as the Detective Sergeant in charge of Investigations. Hill will take over day to day command responsibilities for both the operations and administration functions of the Police Department.
“I want to thank Sergeant Sean Madison for his incredible 29 years of service with the Sequim Police Department. Sean was involved in all of the major initiatives of the department during that time. He leaves big shoes to fill and will be missed by the City and the Sequim community. We wish him all the best in his retirement,” said Police Chief Sheri Crain.
“This is a well-deserved promotion for Mike Hill, and we look forward to the vision, leadership, and hard work we know he will apply to his new responsibilities as Deputy Chief,” Crain added.
