The Sequim City Council elected Tom Ferrell as Mayor and Brandon Janisse as Deputy Mayor at the City Council meeting on January 10. Both are two-year terms that expire on December 31, 2023. The City Mayor presides at City Council meetings and represents the City at ceremonial and intergovernmental meetings. The Deputy Mayor presides in the Mayor’s absence.
Ferrell was elected to the City Council in 2019 and has served as the Deputy Mayor since 2020. He serves on the City’s Finance Committee and Sister City Association and is the Council liaison to the City’s Planning Commission, the Parks, Arbor, and Recreation Board, and the Sequim-Dungeness Valley Chamber of Commerce Board. Prior to his election to the City Council, he served on the City’s Planning Commission.
Janisse was elected to the City Council in 2017 and reelected for a second term in 2021. He currently serves on the City’s Finance Committee, the Clallam County Boundary Review Board, and is the Chair of the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee. He previously served as the liaison to the City’s Planning Commission and as an alternate to the Clallam Transit System Board. He earned his Advanced Certificate of Municipal Leadership from the Association of Washington Cities in 2020.
The Sequim City Council meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. The meetings are currently being held virtually via Zoom. City Council agendas and minutes are posted on the City’s website at www.sequimwa.gov.
