[ARCHIVED] 2023 Sequim Sunshine Festival Artwork Unveiled

2023 Sequim Sunshine Festival Poster Art

The 2023 Sequim Sunshine Festival Committee selected artist Mahina Hawley from a pool of applicants last August to create a piece of artwork to be used as the central image on the 2023 festival marketing materials.

In this painting, Hawley was inspired by images of outer space and our amazing life-giving planet.   The sun is turning the earth toward itself with a smile and highlighting Sequim with a tiny star.  Our solar system is represented, along with countless stars. On the bottom, a hand is thrown up, spreading colors to swirl with the stars as a nod to the Sunshine Festival Sun Fun Color Run.  Hawley loves what the Sunshine Festival represents – a celebration of the sun, light, and renewal at a time when we need it the most.   She hopes this painting captures part of the magic in the world around us.

This is the 4th Annual Sequim Sunshine Festival designed to help shake the winter blues and celebrate the approaching spring and summer seasons. Highlights of the festival include the Sun Fun Color Run, Interactive Light Experience, Illuminated Drone Show, community art projects, music, food, and more.
