The Washington State Department of Commerce has awarded the City of Sequim a $2,000,000 Connecting Housing to Infrastructure Program (CHIP) grant for the Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County development project.

Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County plans to build a 50-unit affordable 4-plex and duplex housing project on the corner of South Sequim Avenue and Brownfield Road.  The grant, a joint application from the City of Sequim and Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County, has been designated to assist with the utility infrastructure cost for the project.  The project will be managed by Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County.

“Habitat Clallam is thrilled with the news that our joint application with the City of Sequim for the Washington State Department of Commerce CHIP grant has been fully funded.  This much-needed funding is getting us one step closer to critically needed workforce/affordable homeownership housing in Clallam County,” said Colleen Robinson, Chief Executive Officer, Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County.

The CHIP grant program was created in 2021.  The grant program's goal is to build more housing units more quickly, by covering the upfront costs of infrastructure connecting housing to municipal systems for water, sewer, and stormwater utilities.
