The City of Sequim Planning Commission is considering new code standards for the size and height of new garages and other accessory structures. The review of codes is in response to concerns raised by residents of a Sequim neighborhood about a permit application for a new, large “garage” in a neighbor’s back yard. The zoning code currently allows garages, storage “sheds” and similar accessory structures to be over twice the height and four to five times the bulk of the average home in Sequim. The Commission invites citizen comment on this topic at their next meeting on Tuesday, February 19 at 6:00 p.m. in the Transit Center located at 190 W. Cedar Street in Sequim.
