[ARCHIVED] Sequim City Council Passes Resolution Supporting Sequim School District's Plan

The Sequim City Council heard input from members of the community, including Citizens for Sequim Schools and the Sequim School District, before adopting a resolution that supports the Sequim School District’s Improvement and Replacement Plan at the September 28, 2015 City Council Meeting.

The resolution cites the importance of maintaining high economic standards and providing quality education to Sequim’s children to provide for Sequim’s future. It refers to the City’s recently adopted Economic Development Core Values, and the importance of high quality education in remaining competitive and attracting desired professionals such as physicians, nurses, therapists, engineers, and law enforcement officers to the City.

Excerpts of the Economic Development Core Values state:

“Working in a collaborative manner with local non-profits, the Sequim School District, the Clallam County Economic Development Council, other government organizations, the business community, and the health care industry will be good for Sequim residents, business owners, employees, and visitors.”

And, “Continue to nurture its role as a desirable location for business, family, and retirement populations and to provide encouragement to the industries that support and serve these populations.”

“This is an important quality of life issue for the community and supports our vision, the Comprehensive Plan, and partnerships. We all know on the Council how important our partnerships are to the community and the Sequim-Dungeness Valley,” City Council Member Laura Dubois said at the meeting.
