All
4th grade or 9 year old students, living within the boundaries of
the Sequim School District, are invited to create an ornament to help decorate
the Holiday Tree to be on display in the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar
Street. The tree will be up from November
28, 2016 through the first of January, 2017.
The
theme for all student-created ornaments is What
the Holidays Mean to Me. Any
materials are acceptable for the ornaments as long as they are dry. No live entries, candles, batteries or
flammable materials are allowed.
Ornaments can be no smaller than 2”x2”x2” and no larger than
5”x5”x5”. There are no color
restrictions. All ornaments must be
presented with a loop (wire, ribbon or cord) for attachment of a hanging hook.
Ornaments
are to be delivered to Sequim Civic Center on Monday, November 21, 2016 between
1:00pm and 3:00 pm. If needed,
arrangements for an alternative delivery day or time can be arranged. The decorated tree will be on display by
Monday, November 28, 2016. The Tree
Lighting and Official Reception for all student participants and their parents
will be held in conjunction with the First Friday Art Walk on December 2 from
4:00pm to 6:00pm.
All
students will receive a photo and commemorative card as a Thank You remembrance
for their participation when their ornaments are returned in January. No financial compensation will be offered to
any participant.
The
second annual Holiday Tree decorating event is sponsored by the Sequim City
Arts Advisory Commission. The goal is to continue this as an annual event for
all 4th grade and 9 year old students within our community.
