[ARCHIVED] Call for Artist Entries for “Keying Around”

SEQUIM—The City Arts Advisory Commission (CAAC) is seeking proposals from local visual artists to paint or decorate pianos to be used in the 2017 “Keying Around” event.  Proposals are due to the City on March 10, artists will be notified of selection by March 21, 2017.

To apply, artists must submit five images of their past work that are similar in nature to what they would propose for the piano "mural," an artists resume/biography, and a statement of interest.

The selection criteria include creativity, artistic quality, site appropriateness, and durability for the proposed timeframe

The donated and decorated pianos will be place in outdoor pedestrian-friendly locations throughout Sequim and be played by both professional pianists in scheduled performances and by passers-by at other times, starting with the First Friday Art walk on July 7 and ending with a special event on August 4, 2017 where the pianos will be auctioned off.  All proceeds from the auction will help support future art and cultural activities in the City.

For complete entry guidelines and exhibit information, visit the City website, www.sequimwa.gov, pick up a brochure at the Civic Center, or contact City Clerk Karen Kuznek-Reese at 681-3428 or kkuznek@sequimwa.gov.
