[ARCHIVED] Wanted – A Few Good Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS)

The Sequim police department is seeking applicants for its Volunteers in Police Service program. Known as VIPS, these citizen volunteers are extremely important, as they perform a myriad of services to the public that the small Sequim police department would not otherwise have the staffing to provide. Some of the duties are vacation house checks, child car seats checks, issuing handicap parking violation citations, traffic control, and acting as additional eyes and ears for the police. They also serve as ambassadors for the City of Sequim, during special events. VIPS provide invaluable help in the front office at the Police Department by answering phones, filing, issuing licenses, and working on special projects.

Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications of being 21 years or older, be a Sequim/Clallam County resident, be able to pass a background check, and have a desire to help their community. Volunteers in Police Service applications are available at the Sequim Police Department, 609 W. Washington St., or online at www.sequimwa.gov/police.

For questions, contact the Sequim Police Business Office at (360) 683-7227, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
