Posted on: January 19, 2018[ARCHIVED] The City of Sequim to Resume Work on Sunnyside Avenue
The City of Sequim will resume work, weather permitting, on February 5 on the replacement of a water main and sewer main on Washington Street at the intersection of Sunnyside Avenue and along South Sunnyside Avenue from Washington Street to Maple Street.
The work will be conducted at night between the hours of 7:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. During the nighttime work, drivers can expect temporary lane closures on Washington Street at the Sunnyside intersection and full closure of South Sunnyside between Washington Street and Maple Street. Driveway access will also be closed. Detours and flaggers will be in place to help navigate drivers around the work zone and to alternate driveway access points. Lanes and driveways will remain open during the day. The work is expected to take eight to ten weeks to complete from when the project resumes.
The project includes sidewalk and curb ramp improvements and final paving from East Maple Street to East Fir Street along Sunnyside Avenue. Weather permitting this work will likely occur during March and April in 2018. Drivers can expect temporary lane closures and short delays lasting 15 to 30 minutes. Driveway access will remain open.
Residents are encouraged to use alleys or alternate routes for access when possible during construction.
The work will be performed by Jordan Excavating of Port Angeles, WA.
