[ARCHIVED] Sequim Appoints New Assistant City Manager

Back of Town Hall

The City of Sequim is pleased to announce the appointment of Charisse Deschenes, the City’s Assistant to the City Manager since the spring of 2017, as Assistant City Manager effective September 1, 2018.  Ms. Deschenes won promotion to Assistant to the City Manager in 2017 by beating a national field of applicants.  Her background includes 4 years with the City of Sequim as a Senior Planner and 16 years of municipal experience including Sequim, Olathe, KS, and Kent, WA.  Ms. Deschenes also ran her own planning consulting firm for a couple of years.  She possesses a Bachelor of Science Degree in Park & Resource Management from Kansas State University and an Executive Master of Business Administration Degree from Benedictine College.  Ms. Deschenes also studied in the Masters of Urban and Regional Planning Program at Eastern Washington University and has an AICP Certification through the American Planning Association.  She was recently honored by peers throughout North America by being appointed to the NextERA Advisory Group with the Alliance for Innovation (https://transformgov.org/nextera-advisory-group-membership).

“I am delighted to appoint Charisse to this position.  She is accomplished, with a diverse background; she will serve our small city well in this role,” said City Manager Charlie Bush.

Ms. Deschenes will begin her service as Assistant City Manager on September 1, 2018.  She will oversee parks planning, the City Clerk’s Office, the administration pool, special projects, and the volunteer, performance management, neighborhood revitalization, arts, and intern programs.  She replaces Joe Irvin, whom recently started a new position with the City of Healdsburg, CA.

Please contact Charlie Bush at 360-681-3440 with questions.
