The Sequim Civic Center, located at 152 West Cedar Street, will resume normal working hours, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., on Wednesday, February 13.
The City of Sequim saw a few more inches of snow overnight. The Public Works crew is working on clearing the main arterial streets and then will begin clearing residential streets. As time allows, they will assist the Sequim School District in clearing the school parking lots. The crew continues to work in 12 hour shifts 24 hours a day through the storm. Residents are asked to clear the sidewalk in front of their homes and businesses, and to assist neighbors who are unable to do so.
If residents are concerned about the weight of snow on their roofs, they are advised to contact a building professional for an estimate.
The City is monitoring and preparing for potential urban flooding as the snow begins to melt. Residents are asked to help by ensuring that storm drains located near their homes or businesses are free of debris.
Police and Fire are responding to calls. Residents are asked to call 911 if there is an emergency or if they see someone in need.
Residents are encouraged to drive with caution and practice safe driving techniques.
Daytime Warming Center Extended
The temporary daytime warming center at the Sequim Transit Center, 190 West Cedar Street, will be extended through Monday, February 18. The center is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. Anyone needing to warm up during the day is welcome.
The center is a partnership between Olympic Community Action Programs (OlyCAP) and the City of Sequim. OlyCAP also operates an overnight warming center in Sequim at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, located at 525 N. 5th Avenue.
