The City of Sequim is now accepting applications for the Association of Washington Cities (AWC) Center for Quality Communities Scholarship Fund. The Center will award up to six $1,500 scholarships to outstanding high school seniors. The scholarship is available through a statewide competitive process for students who are actively engaged in their community and/or city government and plan to attend a post-secondary school in fall 2020.
To be eligible, a student must be graduating from high school, home school or receiving a GED in spring/summer 2020; live in the Clallam County boundaries of the Sequim School District; plan to continue their education at an accredited post-secondary institution in the 2020-2021 academic year on a half-time or more basis; and currently be involved or have been involved with a city government or with a community/school leadership activity.

Required materials include an application, one reference letter from someone who know you well, but is not related, and a five-paragraph essay about what the Sequim community means to you, how you’ve contributed to it and why, and what is next for you. Completed applications are due to the City no later than February 14, 2020. Submit completed materials to:

Applications will be reviewed by a committee of City staff members and one applicant will be nominated.
The Center for Quality Communities promotes municipal leadership development and civic engagement. The Center’s goal is to develop a broad public understanding of the important role cities and towns play in Washington. The Center is a 501(c)(3) organization.
