Notice to City of Sequim Residents.
Each year city crews work to keep sidewalks and street gutters free of weeds to protect the clean aesthetic of the City of Sequim and to insure the weedy vegetation does not become a safety problem. In order to achieve this goal, the use of EPA approved herbicides is necessary. Any herbicides used will be applied to the minimum extent practical and in a professional manner by our Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) Pesticide/SPI licensed Public Works crew members. This work will occur during the summer and early fall. The products used by the City are the same products that anyone can purchase from the local hardware store. These products have been selected for use because of their low level of risk to the community.
The City is contacted annually by property owners who wish to be responsible for maintaining the weeds in the sidewalk and street edges along the frontage of their property. If you prefer to keep the area along your property free of weeds rather than the City program, please go to the City web site (www.sequimwa.gov) to sign up.
